ASME Egg Drop 2009

Official Rules


• Vehicle must not damage floor on contact (minimize sharp edges).
• Eggs must be easily removed from vehicle at before and after launch.
• Participants are responsible for their own cleanup!
• No explosives or harmful chemicals. (We want to avoid safety goggle use).
• The volume of your vehicle must NOT exceed that of a 10 x 10 x 10 inch cube. Parachutes/Streamers will not be included in the volume. On competition day, the volume of your vehicle will be checked with a 10” x 10” x 10” cardboard cube.
• No vehicle should be tethered to anything after launch.
• Scoring: Total Score = (Hang time) + (Target Bonus) - (Number of materials used)
a. Example: Your vehicle was composed of 8 different materials. It was airborne for 18 seconds, and you hit the target (10 points).
Your score would be 20 : 20 = 18+10 – 8.
