Upcoming Social Events
- Bowling night in mid-October, tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 19th
- Pumpkin Launch on Friday, November 2nd
- Social event at some point after the pumpkin launch
o Brendan suggested a potential event for ASME: some kind of “challenge” competition where participants would be asked to perform some task in a specified amount of time. This event would require no advance preparation on the part of the participants, unlike the Pumpkin Launch. This could spur interest amongst students who would like to participate in ASME events but don’t want to dedicate a lot of extra time (like that required to build a pumpkin launcher).
Fall Picnic (9/21)
- Picnic Announcements in classes:
o Freshmen – Marc and Steve in ME 104Q
o Sophomores – Joni and Dave in ME 121
o Juniors – Brendan in ME 225
o Seniors – Steve and Marc in ME 251
- Gerald and Alissa are responsible for buying food for the picnic. Steve has the receipts from last year’s purchases to use as a guide.
- Brian agreed to move things to GVP and set up before the picnic.
- Marc and Heather will meet at 4pm at ITS to lead a walking group to GVP.
Other Business
- Soapbox team
o The soapbox competition is in mid-late October. We talked about a related ASME event – an on-campus “unveiling” of their soapbox car before their competition.
- SLS trip
o According to Gerald’s cost worksheet, it will cost about $500 to go on the SLS trip.
o We’re still working out drivers, cars, attendees, and ASME polos.
