• Provide working knowledge of rigid body (RB) planar motion (kinematics), in terms of translation and rotation.
• Understand the difference between translation and rotation.
• Motion of a RB about a fixed axis vs. general motion.
• Provide working knowledge of the fundamental concepts of linear velocity and acceleration in rigid body motion
• Provide working knowledge of the fundamental concepts of angular velocity and acceleration in rigid body motion.

• Working ability with and conversion between SI and English systems of units in dynamics (slugs and kg, lb and N, ft and m).
• Special attention to SI units in dynamics (kg, m, s, N).
• Use of linear velocity and acceleration in simple components and systems.
• Use of angular velocity and acceleration in simple components and systems.
• Kinematic analysis of simple planar mechanisms.
• Introduction to sliding contacts.

Chapter 17.1 to 17.4 (Planar kinematics of rigid bodies.)
Make sure you study especially carefully ALL the solved examples.
